Svetlana Houlmiere

Eighth Grade Logic / Ninth and Tenth Grades History and Literature Teacher

Svetlana was born and raised in the North-West of Russia. She received her M.A. in teaching English and German as foreign languages from Cherepovets State University in Cherepovets, Russia, and her Translation and Interpretation Diploma from the Academy of Humanitarian Education in St. Petersburg, Russia. In addition, Svetlana earned a Certificate in Biblical Studies at Livets Ord Bible School in Uppsala, Sweden, as well as a Certificate in Christian education from Omega Bible Institute and Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana, USA.

Svetlana has taught foreign languages in various scenarios – individual tutoring, group instruction, corporate and military, in person and online – for thirty years, which includes ten years of EFL curricula development and five years of EFL teacher training.

For ten years, Svetlana served as an interpreter and translator at her church in Russia, interpreting sermons, Bible teaching seminars and workshops, as well as translating materials for Bible teaching, Sunday school, and Christian counseling.

Since 2014 Svetlana has been homeschooling her children, developing and teaching bilingual curricula for early childhood education through high school. Among other things, she has been teaching Sunday school classes, developing and conducting VBS programs, organizing educational field trips, etc.

Currently, Svetlana and her children are a part of Grace Christian Academy.
